Radon Testing
What is Radon?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is formed when uranium decays in the soil. Uranium is in geological formations throughout North Carolina. When homes or other buildings are built on top of these geological formations, radon is pulled into the home and can concentrate to dangerous levels. Exposure to radon gas has been found to cause lung cancer.
The EPA has identified the following ways Radon enters a home:
1.Cracks in solid floors
2. Construction Joints
3. Cracks in walls
4. Gaps in suspended floors
5. Gaps around service pipes
6. Cavities inside walls
7. The water supply
Testing for your Family's Safety
An air test will be performed in accordance with local radon guidelines and laws. The results will be clear as to what action needs to be taken. Mitigation for radon is usually a fairly simple process, and not too expensive.
